前回の続きです。今回は北島にある3校です。

創立：1964年

生徒数： 12,642名　（留学生：1,664名）

キャンパス：ハミルトンシティキャンパス、タウランガシティキャンパス

ワイカト大学は、マオリ族の文化の研究が有名で、またキャンパスがあるハミルトンはマオリ文化の強いロトルアを含むベイ・オブプレンティー地方からも近いためマオリ系の学生の比率が高い大学。校訓も”Ko Te Tangata” (The People) とマオリ語で定められます。

取っています。

キャンパス：マナワツキャンパス、アルバニーキャンパス、ウェリントンキャンパス

マッセイ大学のマッセイは第19代元ニュージーランド首相のWilliam Massey　（ウィリアム・マッセイ、“ビル・マッセイ”）が大学の建学に尽力したことから付けられたそうです。元々は農業学校でパーマストンノースにメインキャンパスがあり、ウェリントンとアルバニーにもキャンパスがある総合大学です。

ヴィクトリア大学はイギリスのヴィクトリア女王統治60周年を記念して設立された大学で、他にもカナダにUniversity of Victoria、オーストラリアはメルボルンにVictoria Universityがあり、なんとバングラディッシュにもVictoria University of Bangladeshとヴィクトリアのつく大学が世界にはいくつかあります。ウェリントンではVicと呼ばれています。

以前に紹介したオールブラックスのメンバーの中にいるConrad Smith（コンラッド・スミス）はヴィクトリア大学の法学部のHonours（優等卒業学位）を取っています。文武両道ですね。

また、平日の夜7時からやっているCampbell Live のJohn Campbell（ジョン・キャンベル）もBA（人文学部）でHonours、Flight of the Concords（コメディグループ）のJemaine Clement（ジェマイン・クレメント）も演劇と映画学科を専攻していました。

次回は南島にある大学3校です。はい、まだまだ続きますよ
