NZ人現地校生徒から　日本からの高校留学生へのメッセージ

1月も4週目に突入し、2015年度の日本人高校留学生がNZへどんどん到着し始めております。
冬の日本からやってきて　夜9時になっても明るいままのNZで　英語でホストファミリーと会話しないといけないし、現地校で授業が始まる前の準備（制服や文房具の購入などなど）に　期待も膨らむものの　だんだん不安になってきたりしています。

JTCは　高校留学生たちの為に事前研修を行うことが多々あります。
その中の「高校生活オリエンテーション」では　現役のNZ人高校生やYear 13を前年に終了したばかりの留学生など　到着したばかりの生徒さんと同世代の高校生や元高校生に直接お話してもらい、日本人留学生からのこまごまとした質問に答えてもらっています。　　そんなあり難い今年の『同世代アドバイザーさん』の一人、Avonside Girls High SchoolのUranさんが　日本人留学生に向けてメッセージを書いてくださいました。
以下に転記させていただきます。　　
JTC高校留学生だけでなく、NZへ留学したばかりの皆さんへ向けての応援メッセージですね。

I want to say a huge welcome to all Exchange Students from Japan.

This is a big challenge and new experience for all of you.

School life in New Zealand is completely different to Japan: different culture,different history, different society.

The first important thing is for you to understand the culture and manners of this country and respect it. Then the people here will also understand your culture and respect it back.

Trying new things, activities and going places you have never been may be scary at first but you will never regret it. Challenge yourself, do the things you can’t do back in Japan and have conversations with new people. This is the best way to enjoy your exchange.

It can be overwhelming at first, but any thing takes time and effort to build.

We all wish you good luck with your stay!
